2003 Summer Season

7/3/2003: Hello members! Sorry for the slow progress on the website, but we are now up and running and we have fresh news. From now on, info about upcoming projects can be found on this page, and the Calendar of Events page has been "retired".

First off, we would like to thank our members for contributing to the success of Grace's Birthday Party. Your hard work is greatly appreciated.

Finally, here is information about upcoming projects:
1. Athens Regional Library: The library is always looking for volunteers to shelve and organize their multitude of books. All that is required is a training session for those interested, and after training, you could go in and volunteer whenever you want (except maybe at two in the morning). Just be sure to have your supervisor keep a "time card" and bring it too us so we can record your hours. Please contact us if you are interested and we can organize a training session.

2. Nuci's Space: Nuci's Space is and organization located in downtown Athens that is regularly looking for volunteers to help at concerts, yard sales, etc. Please contact us if you are interested in volunteering, then we can set up dates with Nuci's.

3. Retirement Home Visitation: Last year's very successful visit to Magnolia Estates has inspired us to do it again! We are currently looking for fresh ideas for activities we can do with residents of Magnolia Estates and/or other retirement homes. Last year, we assembled and decorated birdfeeders for the residents. An idea along those lines would be greatly appreciated! Also, those birdfeeders might need maintenance, so a project could potentially be set up for that as well! Let us know if you are interested and if you have any ideas, and we can contact the activities coordinator to arrange a visit.

Thanks for your patience! This site will be updated fairly regularly through the rest of this summer. Until then, the leaders of OSVP wish you a happy Independence Day!
